Chewy's "American Journey" Brand Dog Food
 

Some time ago Chewy quit selling Fromm dog food. The results are the last 26 pound bag of Fromm Beef Fritata I bought elsewhere was $75. With my 3 little ones that'll last a couple, maybe 3, months so it's not like it'll break the bank but it does make me keep my eyes open for a quality dog food at a better price. While I was at Chewy to buy a box of bully sticks and a box of pee pads I noticed this dog food brand that I hadn't recalled seeing before, "American Journey". So I hit the appropriate filters to look over "American Journey's" grain free products. The ingredients seemed pretty similar to what I enjoyed seeing in Fromm products so I took a glance at what the dentist had to say, he likes it. It was a two for one deal at the time so I bought 2 cases of canned limited ingredient lamb and sweet potato as a treat for the pups and two 24 pound bags of American Journey grain free lamb and sweet potato kibble(not the limited ingredient one), with tax, about $40 for two bags!

It'll be another month or two before they finish the Fromm Beef Frittata and I open a bag of American Journey for them, so I don't know how that will go yet but I do know they LOVE the canned limited ingredient lamb and sweet potato.

I'd love to hear what you think of American Journey Grain Free products whether you've used it yet or not.

I would make sure they have vet nutritionists on staff, do feeding trails and see where they get their vitamin and food sources. No mater what the dentists says ingredients themselves are the least important.

The food source, ingredient sourcing, is a good point. I'll have to figure that out. I suppose I was hoping someone else here already has.

darn dyslexia its not the first time I have done that lol but food trails would make my dogs happy :D

I think what would bother me the most is the China one because we know they have regulation issues.

China sure does have regulation issues. Scary scary on their lack of regulation and the OTC drugs humans and dogs use whose vitamins or part of their ingredients source from there.

You did it the other day also, all good. My dogs prefer the trails over trials also. ;)

Even though the review thingy didn't specify China, China is the most likely source. Way back when I was active here I think China produced something like 90% of vitamins today, give or take.

So far no recalls. Most of the comparisons I've seen reference Blue Buffalo. The manufacturer also makes a lot of other brands.

This touches on some numbers of imported Chinese supplements... seems somewhat unavoidable at some point.

Ehhh Blue Buffalo they are so terrible. Maybe the food is like a generic brand of food like how stores will have the big name brand but the same thing just the store brand. I honestly never heard of American Journey until you brought it up but I'm kinda in the food dark ages these days lol.
