Aging Pets 1 Attachment(s) It is hard for me to believe that I have been a member of Yorkie Talk for just about 11 years. Piccolo was a young lady when I joined and now she is a senior at 14. She is having some age related difficulties such as an enlarged heart and kidney disease. I'm sitting here watching her sleep and listening to her snore, which makes me think of all our pets that we have loved on YT through the years and their circles of life. I'm also appreciative that I have had such a wonderful life with her sharing so many fun times. Anyway, basically I'm writing this to thank you for all your friendships through the years and our shared love or our pets. Hugs to all of you. Attachment 413045 |
I can't even bear the thought of Max and Sasha getting old. It seems like just yesterday that they were little 1 pound bundles of fur licking my face. Sasha just turned 5 and Max will turn 6 this year. While that is not old, I do realize that they do not live for 20 years and my stomach just aches whenever I think of life without them in it. I agree with you 100% in that this board has been a blessing. Being able to share with people who truly understand just how I feel about my babies is very therapeutic. :ghug: |
Sorry she is having some difficulties and health issues. I feel you about the aging thing. I joined when Callie was a pup and she will be 12 in May. She’s actually doing pretty well with her health issues she has. She has Cushings, hypothyroidism, IBD, Collapsing Trachea, allergies, arthritis and continues skin infections. The Cushings lowers her immune system so bad. Having younger siblings though has really helped keep her young. |
It really is insane to think about! Jackson is 10. Will be 11 in October of this year. I joined when he was 9 weeks old. I remember being on here and thinking a 10 year old dog seemed so far away from me. Where does the time go? He is still extremely active and overall healthy minus our issues these past few months with pancreatitis and IBD. But otherwise he is a happy playful boy. |
Time just seems to fly, I joined when Alfie was pup and now he will be 15 in April and Lottie will be 14 in September. We have a few health issues now and Alfie is completely deaf but they are so loved and we are so lucky to have them , we have had loads of support over the years from YT and loved reading everyone's post about their fur babies. It's nice to be able to log on and catch up with people and dogs you will never see but feel you know . |

My Cali is 6.5 year now. I joined YT when I got her and she finished service dog school. Right now I am so blessed that she is aging so well. Stays on the RC low fat pancreatitis food and she only has had the one initial flare. I really believe that keeping with the agility has had a major impact on her activity level and how well she has aged. Just wish I could keep up with her:D |
Thanks everyone for your responses. I wish our pets could go on and on. But I do feel blessed as I am sure all of y'all do too. |
Boy such true words. I have spent so many days and nights on yt.. And have enjoyed all the chats about all our pups. Some not even Yorkies. I have enjoyed participating in some of the gift exchanges, the Christmas card exchange and the Valentine Ball. Great group of people and all our fur babies. My pups are aging as well and I to wonder where the years have gone. |
I value the friendships and interactions on YorkieTalk too. Many of us have gotten busy in other areas and don't check in often, but I am grateful for all that we have shared over the years. My Tiki will be 11 in March and Kayla and Karlee will be 10 in April. Where has the time gone? We just have to capture all the good moments and hold on to them as cherished memories. Hugs to all. |
