Senior blood work How often do you get your seniors blood work done? It was recommended to start doing Callie’s blood work twice a year. That normally ends up happening any way because her dental is never near when her regular yearly blood work is done so we get another panel done before the dental. She does have Cushings, hypothyroidism, and IBD and is 11 and a half. Do y’all’s vets recommend this for your seniors? |
Ours have always recommended 1x a year for a comprehensive panel. |

It might be, but a slightly elevated BUN is really very common and can happen for so many benign reasons...I just don't think that alone would warrant 2x a year full blood panels. I was remembering back to Wylie too and even with all his issues, 1x a yr was still the recommendation. We always coordinated it with his dental. |

My vet with my seniors once per year, comprehensive blood work. |
My vet calls for bloodwork once a year. However, twice a year is what she would recommend for a senior if the pup was ill. |
I think it might be because she is on Metacam |
My vet recommends twice/year for seniors |

We do once a year for Clyde (age 1.5) and Winston (age 7) and twice a year for Teddy who is almost 10. Winston and Clyde are very healthy with no med problems and Teddy has alot of med probs. We did twice a year for our elderly dogs. I probably will go every 9 months on Winston soon. |
