Best food to prevent crystals Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with crystals in their dog's urine? A number of years ago our Morkie had calcium oxillate crystals and a bladder infection. We switched her to a homemade diet which has really worked well, but my time is more limited now and I was hoping to find a suitable commercially made food. So far I haven't been able to find one. I want it to be very high quality and it can't have any high oxalate ingredients. I was hoping someone may have had the same issue with their dog and had luck with some type of commercially prepared food. Thanks in advance! |
Your vet can prescribe a special food for that. |
Thank you! I was aware of the prescription diet available at my vet, but I haven't heard very many good things about it. I was just wondering if there may be any other options, but it seems pretty limited for dogs with this issue. |

Hi Mileymorkie, Welcome to YorkieTalk. I'm sorry you and your sweetie are dealing with this. Thank you for looking after your little one. A thread on YorkieTalk from 2010 may be helpful. Started by "my_2_yorkies" the htread . is titled "urinary problems ..." In particular, note the several posts by ladyjane in this thread. Hope this helps. |
