Puppy food foe adult? We just brought home a new Yorkie furbaby to join our one year old Yorkie. Having a hard time keeping them from eating each others food. Would it harm my adult dog to eat puppy food? Are there any special nutrients he would be missing? Can I supplement it with vitamins? |
I don't think it would harm your 1-year old Yorkie to eat the puppy kibble. Puppy food usually contains more protein etc because puppies have more energy and burn more calories. A 1-year old is still pretty active. So don't worry. :) If you're concerned though, you could either feed them separately or in separate rooms? My second always wanted to steal my older Yorkie's food too. My older one is more picky and the younger one is a piggy. Haha... With time, she learned to understand when I tell her "leave Scottie's food alone". They understand the tones of your sentences and eventually catch on to certain words. |
Puppy food is way to high calorie and fatty for adults. In most cases it will cause stomach issues with adult dogs. |
I would take the 2 bags you have and compare the actual nutritional analysis to see if there are huge differences or minor differences. Some puppy foods have very little difference from the adult versions these days, it's strange. |
