Stella & Chewy? Hi, everyone. I have a VERY VERY picky eater. The only thing I can consistently get her to eat is freeze dried Stella & Chewy. I'm worried about the high protein content which is 40% on a dry matter basis. The fat content is also high. She's 11 months old and weighs 2 lbs. She has no diarrhea and no vomiting. I have heard that too much protein is hard on a small dog's kidneys. Has anyone been feeding this over a long time and have there been any issues? Your input is greatly appreciated! |
Unless she is prone to pancreatitis then fat is actually good. I believe there have been several who have fed this. It’s a really great company and food. |
Thank you Lovetodream88. :) |
The only time high protein is bad for kidneys is if there is something wrong with the kidneys. I much prefer higher protein for my dogs (and myself!), rather than higher carb...we all know what a more carb-based diet can do. Stellas is a great brand - as is Natures Variety, Primal, and there is Sojos where you can just add your own meat. |
