Small round bumps Good morning. My female three year old yorkie has just developed two small round bumps, one on her spine and one on right leg. She had a larger bump on her hip which i had removed at the same time as her dental in March. It was only an embedded hair folicle, but the vet had felt it best to be sure. I have three questions. Do any of yours have these? How do you know if they are serious? What do you do about it? Thanks. Gew |
Do you have a picture ? |
I tried to take a picture, but Audrey is dark with dark hair, the bumps are small, and they don’t show in a picture. Sorry. Just wondered if thinking they are all lke the first, the hair follicle, might cause me to ignore something important. |
Yes, very very familiar with them. My Marcel had several throughout his life. The first one was benign. After that, we'd have them removed if/when they got too large. They're usually either follicular cysts or sebaceous gland cysts...neither of which is a health concern. |
Thanks. Yes, I had the one removed biopsies and it was a follicular cyst. It’s only a few months later and I just found two more smaller ones. I don’t want to miss anything, but I also don’t want to risk anesthesia if unnecessary. Thanks for your input. Gew |

We always waited until there were several of them, and at least one of them that was getting just too big. But also ask your vet if they have a laser bc if they're still super small, they may be able laser them off without general anesthesia. |
Thanks. Great idea. Not sure if they have a laser, but, if not, i’ll Check around and find one. The anesthesia scares me. |
