Allergy prevention Well Penny is having an ear issue this is her second one and I fear she is headed down the same allergy road as her sister. She was doing the head shaking and rubbing of her ear so I took her to the vet. She had yeast and some bacteria that showed up on the cytology. Vet has me cleaning the ears once a day and putting meds in twice a day. Is there anyway to help prevent a dog from getting bad allergy’s? |
When I had my poodle she was always getting ear yeast infections, I was told to keep her ear canals clear of fur since she had floppy ears my vet said they are more prone to yeast infection due to lack of air in the ears, Hope this helps. |

I'm terrible- I've never had to clean Jackson's ears after swimming or bathes etc. We've just never had issues. I don't even dry them. Lola, my cockapoo, gets soooo stinky after swimming in the pool and I guess I need to start properly taking care of her big floppy ears!! What do you use and how do you do it? Just drop a little ear cleaning stuff and kinda massage it around? I wish I could help - I'm useless for ear issues. |
