What is some thoughts on flea collars .
Is the secresto safe for small yorkies

I've never been a fan of flea collars. Instead I get the flea control recommended by my vet. Once a month pill and that's it.

If you let your Yorkie outside a lot, a natural way of warding flea away is applying mint extraction on them. You can add the mint to EV Coconut oil or EV Olive oil and apply it to him/her.

If you want to kill the flea then I would use this combination when you give him a bath. Use the baby shampoo with a little bit of Apple Cider Vinegar. The ACV will kill the flea on contact and the baby shampoo will not hurt your Yorkie eyes. After you dried her up thoroughly, massage her hair to skin with EV Coconut Oil. This will choke out the larvae or what will hatch or jump back on him/her. EV Coconut Oil will also help her dried skin that the flea has damage and help her hair grow back shiny/silky.

As for the bedding and area that is infested, I would suggest using Baking Soda and salt. This will dry out the flea and larvae. Leave it on for 24 hours and vacuum. Re-apply after 3-4 days and do it 3x over the next 2-3 weeks to get rid of egg that will be hatching.

If your pup is outside at all, talk to your veterinarian about flee/tick medication as Lyme disease is rampant in the midwest. Also, you need to give your little one HeartGard or some such to prevent heartworm. Again, these preventive medicines are vital to your pooch if you take him/her outside. I, personally, would never consider putting a flee collar on any dog (or cat).

I do not really like flea and tick collars for many reasons. My youngest two might chew on each others when playing, it would be a second collar, I worry about touching it, and I just prefer being able to give nexguard and not have to worry about it.

No to the seresto:animal36 flea collar. I've heard some awful stories about that collar. I will never use it
