Puppy Constipation Hello everyone! I am new to this so please bare with me. I have a 9 week old Yorkie his name is Bentley he is adjusting very well. But I think he may be Constipated. When he goes to poop it comes out but very little then I noticed him trying to strain. And there is a little bit of poop around his rectum. Anything I can give him to help out? |

Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Be sure to check and gently clean away any poop that is left behind. Small puppies often need the added help to keep the passage clear. Make sure he has adequate access to fresh water at all times. Water is essential to prevent dehydration that will contribute to constipation. Food and treats might have to be re-evaluated. My Yorkies suffered some constipation when I changed their kibble to a high protein food. It didn't agree with them. When Max had a really bad case of constipation and gas, canned pumpkin, the plain Libby's, solved his problem. |

Thank you so much! We are using pedigree kibble as of now he really likes it and eats very well no problems at all. Both water and food are available at All times. |

9 weeks is still so young they should still be with Mom so if they have a health issue it needs to be taken very seriously and taken to the vet. These little ones can go down hill very fast. |

 Thank you! |
