Supplements for my yorkie! Hey everyone! What supplements do you recommend for a 5 year old yorkie. He eats wellness complete dry dog food with Honest kitchen proper toppers and chicken bone broth, but I feel like I need to make sure he gets a supplement of some sort because he doesn't eat a lot. He is picky so whatever it is, I have to be able to disguise it. I was considering trying a glucosamine and maybe a multiple vitamin? Suggestions, anything would be great! |
It’s really not necessary the food is balanced. |
It's up you. My boy Jackson is 9. I have him on a few supplements now for different reasons: Glycoflex II for joints. I've 100% noticed a difference in him since this. He gets 1/2 tablet every other night. He would occasionally get stiff after laying down for a while and I hated to see it because he's such a happy healthy active boy still. I haven't noticed this anymore really since giving the glycoflex. Vetriscience Omega 3, 6, 9. I don't give this every day but our vet suggested something like this for his heart murmur. It's currently considered an innocent murmur and no medications required. He is asymptomatic. No idea if the extra omegas will help or not, but vet said it can't hurt. I may look into something else more heart specific in the future. This helps his coat and skin too. Vetriscience Perio Powder. I just sprinkle this over his food for dental health. or ProDen Plaqueoff. depending on what I have. |
For a 5 year old dog I'd suggest giving him some daily bites of fruits or veg that are dog safe. You can also do some fruit veg juice that you make for yourself and is dog safe. I'm not sure if I would supplement a 5 year old dog if he is healthy. My almost 12 year old..I've him on glucosamine, Niacinamide, enzymes, wheatgrass powder, some gelatin, tiny bit of egg yolk for biotin, some fruits veg juice because he has issues. I did start him on glucosamine when he was 7-8 years old. |
