Bone broth Has anyone here on YT made bone broth for your babies. I've been reading a lot of positives on this as an add on to meals. |
I haven’t made it but just bought some from the honest kitchen. I haven’t used it yet though. |
What exactly are the benefits? I will google as well but just was curious to know why others have decided to try it. |
I've done it! This is how I did it: • boiled a whole chicken in a large pot filled with water for about an hour • de-boned the chicken and kept the meat to be frozen for later as treats or if/when they get sick • continued to simmer the bones of the chicken for another couple hours...until the bones pretty much break down (the collagen from the bone and cartilage is very nutritious). • I think I added white vinegar to help this process to break down the bones. • Once it's done, I remove it from the stove to cool down. • Refrigerate it overnight. • Next day, scoop up all the fat that solidified overnight. • Then, place in small containers to freeze, so it can be used whenever. I believe in the nutritional value of bone broths as my mom has made it for us our whole life (with other human ingredients of course). So, I'm sure there are benefits for dogs to drink it as well. I made it when my two were puppies and got sick here and there. I used it to mix with white rice or oatmeal when they were sick. Or froze them into ice cube trays as a treat during the summer. Or used it to soak up kibble so that their food was easier to digest. |
I often buy chicken broth (low sodium) to pour over their dry food. It just adds flavor and moisture. Saves me $$$ sometimes because otherwise I use canned food to mix in with kibble which can get pricey. It just adds variety. |
What is the benefit or positive that you're attracted to about the bone broth? Is their a nutritional value you like in particular? |

I use the Honest Kitchen bone broth. My Cali loves the taste over the kibbles in the evening. Easy to make! |
