Rabbit, duck & venison I found this food on chewy .com Stella & Chewy's Absolutely Rabbit Dinner Patties Grain-Free Freeze-Dried Dog Food. Has or does anybody else feed their Yorkie rabbit and/or duck? Muffin is only 8 months old right now and I want to try new foods with her to see which she prefers. She's eating 'stream' kibble and dehydrated lamb now. I used to give my chihuahua duck and she luved it! I also want to try feeding venison kibble. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks! |
Mine love all 3 proteins you mentioned. I feed Primal but also used to feed Stella & Chewy's freeze dried raw, both are sold @ Chewy. |

So your 3 kiddos didn't have any allergic reactions to any of these proteins? Muffin is allergic to chicken. She scratches and bites at her legs and her belly turns a purple/red when she eats it so we gave it up. Thanks for sharing with me. |

If they do have a reaction, it would be to chicken or beef. Curious, what is 'stream' kibble? |
These are all wonderful protein options BUT, you do want to save some of the novel proteins in case she ever has allergies later in life. |
mimimomo: Stream kibble is Taste of The Wild's Stream is the fish variety. Sorry about not being specific. Wylie's Mom: That's exactly what I was thinking, just in case allergies develop later in life. Muffin already developed an allergy to chicken, maybe I introduced it to her too early. The breeder had her on beef products, when I got her, but I didn't like the brands she was using (GMOs etc) so I slowly incorporated chicken and then just gave her chicken meals but then the allergy popped up. Now she gets fish & lamb meals on alternate days. Variety is the spice of life, they say. ;) |

LoveToDream88: I understand your concern about foods from the same factories. The chicken I was feeding Muffin was people-food chicken that I boiled (for PM feeding) which made it's own broth. Then I also gave her elk/buffalo kibble in the AM. I don't think she was having a problem with the elk/buffalo, do you? My vet didn't think so. Thanks for sharing about the prescription foods. I appreciate your input. :) |

I buy freeze dried meals in various proteins as 'treats' so that my babies get a variety of proteins other than their daily kibble. I know for a fact that they LOVE rabbit. They will cry so loud and go craaazzzzy for it. They officially know it as 'bunny'. :D |
Thank you all for sharing. Muffin gets dehydrated greens & lamb for her evening meal. She still eats her baby kibble since she is only 8 months old. I am introducing duck & venison as TREAT kibble when she's being a good girl. She seems to really like the venison. She scratches a lot after eating the duck so I don't know about it yet (too early). I was considering introducing rabbit after she's full grown. I don't want to give her too many choices yet. Thanks again for your advice, I really do appreciate it. :) |
