Constipation Help Please!!!! :animal36 Hi.. My pup CoCo (10 weeks) has not pooped in about 40 hours, after she had diharrea. Does anyone have any suggestions?.. We are kind of worried, and have just given her 1.5 cc of mineral oil... Anyone tried this?[/COLOR] |
You might try a tsp of canned pumpkin. |
I did a quick search and found this.... Q: What can I give a small dog for constipation? A: The first thing to do when a little long haired dog has constipation is to check their rectal area. Many times we have seen constipation caused by hair getting stuck together across the rectum and blocking release of stool. If this isn't the problem, it is usually safe to use stool softeners containing dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (ducosate) such as Colace (Rx), 1 capsule twice a day. But it would be better to talk this over with your vet if possible before medicating since constipation is often a symptom of some other problem. It is a good idea to figure out what the underlying cause is if possible ** I would get a correct dosage from your vet before giving ANY medication to your fur baby ** |

When Chachi was little he got diahrea and the vet put him on keopectate and he got constipated. It tooka couple of days and then it ran its course. If it were any longer than that I would take them him to the vet. The canned pumpkin may help. I dont know about mineral oil. |
