Flea Prevention One of my Morkies seems to have a problem with Frontline Gold. First time we applied it she ran in the yard frantically rolling to try to get it off. The second time we applied it she immediately started running in circles turning her head back and forth, snapping at the air like she was snapping at flies. My other pup is not having a reaction that we can see. I thought maybe she feels like it is burning her skin. My two other options for Tina are Seresto flea collar and NexGard. Since the pups are still playing rough and chewing things, I am hesitant to put a flea collar on her that they might destroy and/or eat. Plus the vet staff told me you should leave the collar on at all times even when you crate them. I'm a little nervous about that. I was thinking about using Nexguard for 6 months and then trying the flea collar for both of them. I was wondering how anyone else would handle this. The vet highly recommends the flea collar but I am nervous about that until they are older and not chewing as much. Thanks |
The way my two young ones pull and chew on their collars and the youngest one gets hers stuck in her mouth I would not feel comfortable with the collars. I have used nexguard since it came out and love it and have had no issues with it. |
I use Nexgard with good luck! I've also used Simparica with good luck as well. Both seem to do the job well and I've had no side effects for either pups! |
Thank you for your replies. My vet charges $120.00 for 6 month supply of Nexgard. Does that sound right? The collar is $50.00 with a $15.00 rebate, and lasts 8 months. |

We use Heartguard too. That is a great deal. I will have to ask about that. Thank you! |

Simparica was a bit cheaper and I think it does cover one extra tick. I paid $101 for a 6 month supply of that. And they have more weight ranges as well. They have a 2.8lb - 5.5lb one. And then a 5.6lb - 11lb. I can't decide which one I like better, to be honest, LOL. So I just rotate. Lola and Jax had Simparica for 3 doses each, now we're back on Nexgard. |

I am using Simparica, no side affects, no fleas / ticks. I paid appox $77. for a 6 month supply using PetMeds with a 20 % discount plus no shipping fee. They do fax your vet to get approval. |

I wonder if my vet would approve it since she sells the other type. |

I use to use a topical for flea prevention and Sophie would go crazy for hours and then crash for a long time. The vet said she could not use the topical and put her on Nexgard. Sophie has no issue with the Nexgard and no sign of fleas. |
