Cytopoint for allergies There is a new injection on the market now for allergies in dogs. It's really a terrific option...little to no side effects. Unlike Apoquel and Atopica it has little to no effect on the immune functions. I urge all pet owners with allergic pups to look into it. My Hannah who is 2 has been having problems with allergies for some time. She was licking her feet almost constantly...we tried anti histamines and ended up putting her on Apoquel; but, I wasn't happy putting a young pup on immuno suppressive meds and a friend told me about Cytopoint. I called my vet and she agreed it might be a great thing to try. Hannah had her first injection on May 31st....so this coming Monday will be 5 weeks and she has not touched her feet since the day she had that injection. The cost is around $56 for one injection. Nothing but AH-mazing! I'm going to look into it too... |
I have an appointment Thursday to have Callies thyroid rechecked and I plan to talk to the vet about it then because the apoquel just doesn't seem to be working anymore. Sadly ourvet is out of town next week so it will be a fill in vet so hopefully they will still be about to help. I so happy you brought these injections up! |

Sammie has the same problem with licking and biting feet This week started scratching stomach like crazy so we got a shot of Cytopoint today. I heard it takes a few days to kick in so I can not wait! Been up for two nights with him. I heard it last around 4 to 8 weeks. |
I am floored......Hannah is STILL not itching! It has been 10 weeks now! Hope you get good results with Sammie! |
How long did it take to kick in? I was told a few days |
My boy was on Apoquel for a couple of years giving him "some" relief, July 7th my vet gave him Cytopoint. She said to keep him on the apoquel for 3 days then stop. For the month of July he scratched a little bit. Aug. 7th he went back for his 2nd shot. He as not scratched or licked his paws "so far", keeping fingers crossed. |

Matese that is good to hear. He got his shot on Thursday night and I have him on the apoquel for three days as well. He still is itching a little bit but I am going to give him the full three days for it to kick in before I call the vet. I hope it works for him. I heard good things about it. __________________ |

Cytopoint and breeding? Gabri has had 2 Cytopoint shots which alleviate most of her itching. Before discovering The shots she scratched herself bloody. We had considered breeding her but now are concerned about doing so with her having the allergy problem and taking the shots. I would appreciate input on this subject. Right now she has just started her second heat. |
