Dander on 5 month old Yorkie Is this typical? She went to groomer last week and she said there was dander on her coat. Today, one week later, I see dander again. suggestions? She is our first Yorkie so not sure what to do. Also do you use conditioner every time you bathe your puppy? |

I only bathe her every 3 weeks or so and her skin doesnt appear dry |
I had the same problem with Oliver. I asked the groomer, I asked the vet. Nobody really gave me much of an answer. I used to represent Blue Buffalo food and had seen this issue before, so I changed him over to that. It helped tremendously! There is a little dandruff still, but not much. You can't see it if you're not looking for it. |
You could try adding moisture by giving a fish oil. |

Use a good, gentle shampoo and conditioner. Rinse out shampoo really well. Finding the right products can be a challenge, but can be very beneficial. |

I worried a lot and tried everything when Scottie was 5 months old. I tried oatmeal bathes, grinding up my own oatmeal powderNot really sure if any of the above helped. But with time, after 1 year, his skin suddenly cleared up. So I'm not sure if it was a puppy thing or a health thing. When I got Casie and she had the same dandruff/dander issue at 5 months. It's pretty gross, I didn't want to give her scratches because it would snow! I figured she'd grow out of it just like Scottie did, so I didn't bother with the oatmeal bathes etc (it was very very messy and some claim that the oatmeal isn't good for dogs' skin lol). But I believe she did grow out of it. Right now at 1.5 years, her skin seems to have cleared up. And yes, I apply conditioner when I bathe them. |
Btw what ware you feeding...? |
