older yorkie with hernia My 15yr Yorkie is having trouble urinating. We have done bloodwork, xray and we are on several meds. I discovered a big soft movable lump close to her back area. I asked if that could be her problem with trouble urinating. I can actually push it back in and then she can urinating. Anyone experience hernias with older dogs? |
I'm sorry your girl is having this problem. Did the vet see it? Since it is affecting her ability to urinate, sounds like an ultrasound or other imaging will be required. I do know of a couple Yorkies ages 6 - 7 who had abdominal hernias repaired successfully. The surgery was comparable to spaying in terms of invasiveness and recovery. |
hernia in 15yr old The vet did see it and it did not show up in x-ray. We were looking for a stone in her bladder. I called yesterday and he said we could talk about surgery. I just cannot see a procedure such as that for an older dog. I can still push it in and she can urinate, however I do not know how long it will stay mobile enough to continue. thanks |
