Diet for Mia, diabetes? Hey Yorkie Mama's its been a whilee :) , Anyways on to my post lol, There was a time mia was staying with a friend of mines because I was having some issues home, it was for about 2-3 months and when I got her back she had gained alot of weight. Im not sure how she gained so much weigh but she did and has maintained the same weight since I came back. Well, today I took my baby to the vet for a general check up and because I began noticing she was breathing heavy, drinking alot of water and peeing way more than usual. After a long wait, the vet advised that mia should be placed on a diet to lose some weight because she is closed to 9 pounds and should be around 7lb or under for her size. (toy) The vet also said that I should put her on a diet as soon as possible because he doesnt want her to be diagnosed with diabetes at a later age. Right now Mia is 2yr 1/2. Tomorrow, I'm taking pee sample for testing as well just to clear that doubt too, even tho he told me he doesnt think she has any urine infection. The vet recommended the Hill's metabollic weight management. Now i know most vets do promote this brand and I was wondering if anyone has tried anything different for weight loss? |
If it were me, I'd skip the Hills and just feed a good higher protein kibble and take her for walks, lots of walks. I'd recommend Natures Logic Venison - get on Amazon. I feed raw by Primal, Natures Variety, or Know Better Pet Food - those are all good options too. |
