Soft Food after Dental Surgery Our little 7 months old Yorkie puppy "Romeo" needs to have some dental work done so that his adult teeth can come in properly. We were told to give him "soft food" for 7 to 10 days after the surgery. We are feeding him normally Organix Puppy Food (dry kibble) and he doesn't like it moistened. Any suggestions? Thanks. :aimeeyork |
I would just get some canned food from Pet Club or something - they have great brands. |
Thank you I normally transition from one food to the next over a few days. Would you do the same? Hope he will still like his dry kibble after all this. Thanks for your input. Wish we wouldn't have to put him through this. Thanks.:aimeeyork |

Yup, there is a chance he will not like his kibble after this...that's always a risk. But really, who can blame them :) -- I too would probably prefer soft, moist, fresher food vs a dry food :p! Not the end of the world if he ends up preferring it... Save |
That brand offers wet food. I would just offer some canned food. :) After Jackson had dental work I think I only fed him strictly soft food for around 5 days. But I've always mixed in wet food with the dry for some variation and flavor. The dogs love it. |
Thanks Thank you so much for your rapid reply. I checked Organix and didn't see any wet puppy food - they have it for adults. I'll figure it out and as you said, he'll tell me afterwards if he still likes his food ... He has to like his food, that's for sure. I truly appreciated your information and caring. Meant a lot to me. Thanks again.:aimeeyork |
