Coughing? Trinket has started this cough/huff thing. It is not constant, just every so often in the last week or so. Not an attack or anything just a cough/huff sound maybe once or twice and then she is fine for hours. Never had a collar on or anything around her neck to cause a collapsed Trachea. Is this normal for Yorkies? |
she is 2 1/2 yrs old |
Could be a number of innocent things. With the humidity and dampness here in Virginia, my boys have had a little sneezing and coughing after having their noses in the grass. They like to lick grass too. My boys sometimes get hair in their mouths when they lick or chew on themselves, which they do a little when they pick up things in their hair outside. They also like to eat fuzzies off the floor if I don't vacuum them up fast enough. If your pup has longer hair, check the corners of her mouth for hair that might be stuck inside her mouth. |
Could be reverse sneeze, allergies, throat irritation...or did she recently have the kennel cough vaccine? If yes, it could be kennel cough from the vaccine itself. |
No kennel cough vaccine. She is in full coat and does get her hair in her mouth but that did not seem to be the issue. She doesnt go outside often as she is 3 lbs and we have birds of prey so she is pee pad trained. Fuzzies could be a problem as she is a vacuum. I gave her some Colloidal Silver and some organic, local honey when I posted this and then again the last 2 days and she has not coughed since so hopefully just a little irritation or allergy. |
It could be a number of things; kennel cough, indication of a heart murmur, a growth in the throat that's irritated, food not being chewed properly and the list goes on. If he's not doing this after eating then I'd eliminate the last item. My suggestion is to have your vet take a look at him. |
