Finicky Eater So Chewie is 9 years old and has decided he just doesn't like dry food anymore. He was on Canine Caviar - Bison which he liked, the company ran out of that flavor so I switched to different food - Blue Buffalo - which he ate but plucked out those vitamin bits that are in it and now he refuses to eat any dry food. I've tried all sorts of different brands and nothing. Even went back to the Canine Caviar and he now turns his nose up to it. I started making homemade food for him but I'm just not sure it's as well rounded/complete and on top of that it's making him have runny poop. Starts out solid but then turns runny. I've taken him to the vet to make sure it wasn't anything medical and he came out with flying colors. I'm getting frustrated because I'm kinda at my wits end here trying to figure out what the heck my little guy wants. |
Hello from a mama who struggles with meals. Hi there, I couldn't help but laugh while reading this! Aren't these little angels just the pickiest. My little one is 9.5 yrs old and I struggle too. We had a elevated kidney issue about 5 years ago, at that time I gave him science diet canned food (KD) and it worked! Then we found a chef here in our hometown that cooks for specific breeds with restrictions for whatever it is your Yorkie needs. I got their recipe and started cooking for him. I know you mentioned that you got a blood test and it was with flying colors; I'm so happy for your baby and you, with that said I would stick with, Boiled chix, spinach, brown rice, pumpkin, cranberries, blueberries. You can message me and I can send you some recipes, if this interest you:) I hope your picky baby eats soon:) |
I'd love to see some of the recipes! |
What is your end goal...do you want to keep making food or do you want to have prepared food? |
I don't mind making him the food, but what I've been making him is giving him runny poop so that's not working. It's been a mix of meat, green beans, rice, and shredded cheese. I also mix in salmon oil, brewer's yeast and bone meal. |
