Yorkie Teeth My sweet Yorkie recently had 7 teeth pulled. What a trooper. We brush his teeth daily, but in the last few months he's been really feisty and wouldn't let us do a good job with the toothbrush. The vet suggested that we give him Greenies/dental chews going forward to help avoid possible teeth issues. So far, he hasn't wanted to eat Greenies and we're having a hard time with that. Wanted to seek out the Yorkie forum to see if you guys had any suggestions. I see some people on this forum mentioned that they altered their Yorkie's diet after having a few teeth pulled. He's on Blue Buffalo, but we mix in egg pieces and chicken. Anyone have any recommendations for better ideas in terms of types of food that will help reduce issues with the teeth or any treats or chews or similar we can give him to help his teeth? I want to make sure we do whatever we can to help him stay as healthy as possible. Thank you! |
Chews are great for teeth, but I wouldn't use Greenies due to their history. Other chews I like: CET Chews (get on Amazon, not at vet office), RMBs (raw meaty bones), Honest Kitchen Beams, Munchy Stix, Get Naked Chew Sticks (Amazon). I'd also suggest buying Healthy Mouth additive - it's VOHC approved, which is really nice. Worth the price! |
I like Milk Bone dental chews. Made in the USA and vet dental recommended. Ruger gets one after I brush his teeth. He loves them. |
