1st Dental Buddybear had 6 teeth removed, 3 baby 3 adult. He just turned 2 and his vet was surprised his 2 back molars were infected. Four of his adult teeth never did come in. :confused: NO toys For 7 days or more, not even the soft ones....poor baby......no tug of war, nothing, nil, nada. She said now is the time to wash all his toys so the bacteria from the infection doesn't get reintroduced to his mouth. He is not going to be happy for 2 weeks. :( I feel like the bad guy for putting him through this but SO glad they got the infection out. Pain meds and antibiotics for quite a few days and he will be back to his old self. I guess I'm having a pity party for doing what needed to be done by causing him pain. I know the breeders on here go into the history, health of their babies they choose to breed. Do they pay as much attention to the teeth as their bone structure? Just curious. Did your vets suggest the same for your babies recovery? |
Even with a lot of teeth pulled, the recovery was super fast and uneventful. We didn't need to pull toys or anything. Your kiddo will snap back quick. |
I went around the house and found all the toys, bully sticks etc and put them out of his reach............ahem..........suddenly he came out with a kong toy that holds dog biscuits which still had two in it. Mommy took it away and said I'm sorry but the Dr said no. The next day he was whining standing on his back legs trying to reach into one of his toy baskets. Later that afternoon dh caught him with a bully stick in his mouth. Tonight the little bugaboo climes on top of a chair and snagged a bully stick from the table top where I had layed them in mass. Every time we go outside on the leash he gets a rock or stick in his mouth before I can say jack Robinson, my pulling him to me and trying to get it out of his mouth before he does any damage!!!!:eek: He has two more days of pain meds plus a few days of antibiotics. Apparently the six stitches in his mouth mean nothing. Sometimes I feel like he is giving me the I will get even with you stare. Wyle's mom I think he is not as delicate as his Dr thinks. You are more realistic than his vet. Thanks for your post. |
