Reverse sneezing or something else? My boy Max has an unusual scene last night around 3 A.M where he just began doing what sounded like reverse sneezing. He was making the sound of pushing air through the nose , like breathing reversely. However, doesnt this last about a min or 2? My concern is Max lasted about 5-7 mins doing this, on and off for seconds after 4 mins. Is this normal? Does me feeding him Stella and Chewy without water have to do with this happening? I'd like to add that Max was completely under covers between Me and my boyfriend while the AC was on. We both reacted surprisely and scared for my baby soon as we heard him. I massaged his neck and tried to calm him down as he was doing it , within the breaks i put him to drink some water. Then he wanted to get off the bed and wander the room. He through up about a half a teaspoon of what looked like his food and water, I think. Just when I was looking into enrolling both my babies into petplan or petfirst insurance, the vet visit prob wont even be covered by the insurance. |
Likely does not have anything to do with the food. My Max has had episodes of reverse sneezing from getting an allergen up his nose. Some people blow into the nose, and some people cover the nose for a few seconds, which makes the dog swallow and usually ends the episode. Very gently stroking the neck can also help, as you did. Usually calming the dog down so that he/she swallows does this trick. Here is a thread in the YT library for you: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...d-trachea.html |
Wanted to add that Max will sometimes reverse sneeze when he gets water up his nose in the bath. |
Don't think it has anything to do w/ food. But given that he regurgitated, I think what happened is that he had some reflux (GERD) while sleeping, which caused irritation and coughing/reverse sneezing upon waking...after which he regurgitated. |
