Your dog will adjust. For the future, keep an eye on the teeth to try and prevent build up and infection from happening again- so your dog can keep the rest of the teeth. My chihuahua is missing two teeth, they had to be removed. It wasn't my fault- he'd been neglected and his mouth was really bad, I tried brushing, etc to get it off but just couldn't undo years of build up. The two bottom premolars were what went, and they don't impact him at all being gone. They're really mostly vestigial teeth, luckily. I watch his mouth really close and use raw bones, dental chews, brushing, and even manually remove any tartar that builds up. He's elderly so it happens fast in his tiny mouth, but he's been able to avoid any further dental work! He's high risk (epileptic, among other things) so the less anesthetic he gets the better. |
Caesar is 11 years old. I appreciate the comments. We will make sure we take care of our Babyboy. He is post op 2 days and doing well. I and My Wife have no kids and he is our Pride and Joy. Thanks so much for responding. God Bless All |
Sorry to know about this. Can understand how you feel...anyway, good to know that he is doing well. Lots of love to Caesar :-) |
Thank you. He is our Pride and Joy and we just want our baby to be Happy. He is back to shaking his toys and eating well. God bless all. |
Rambo is missing many of his teeth after a dental cleaning... It made me sad, too! But he's happier now. Especially since he doesn't have his "snaggle tooth" anymore. haha. He is eating kibble, but just slightly slower. I feed him the wet version of his Nutro sometimes as a nice weekly treat! |
My little guy needs a dental badly. He's 7 and I've been putting off for 2 years when the vet recommended it. They charge upwards of 1400 here for a dental and that increases with extractions. I'm concerned he has some bad teeth as he is out of sorts this weekend. Always has his mouth open, tongue hanging out and doesn't seem to be chewing his food anymore, just swallowing. He had a fever last week and they gave him fluids. Starting to wonder if it's an infected tooth. I'm watching him closely today but he may end up needing antibiotics and then a dental regardless. This happen to anyone's Yorkie before? |
