Weight loss in a yorkie About a week ago I noticed my male yorkie who is almost 3 yrs old looking a little thin. I have been acustomed to weighing him after grooming but got away from it the last few months. He seems active and I have not noticed any wierd signs. He's eating fine, I feed him 1/4c of dry mix with wet food twice a day. He was holding at 3.7 - 3.8 lbs for awhile but now has dropped to 3.4lbs. I'm not sure if I should worry at this point. Any thoughts? |
Is he neutered? Diet, amount of exercise, and coat length are the same? Used the same scale? .4 pounds can be fairly significant on such a small dog, but I wouldn't be too concerned yet if he isn't showing any signs of trouble. Continue to monitor his weight and make sure you weigh at about the same time of day. My boys can vary depending on whether or not have full bellies and need to eliminate. Granted it isn't the same percentage of their weight that .4 pounds would be on your little guy. |
