Insurance/Epileptic Fits & Spaying Hi All Does anyone know if pet insurances are likely to pay for spaying my Yorkie if the vet advises she is spayed due to Epileptic fits ?? I am booking her in, just wondered if anyone had any idea if I'm likely to get any help from the Animal Friends with the cost. Thanks All XXX |
I have no idea, but the insurance company should be able to easily answer this question, I'd think...? |
I waded through only 8 pages of the 43 page policy - and it is unclear at least in the first 8 pages. Furthermore I have no idea why spaying your dog has any medical benefit vs a vs epilepsy, This is not to say that spaying is not a good idea but to link the spaying as a need generated from her epilepsy? I am not aware of any scientific studies that associate a link to epilepsy. Do You have coverage for her epilepsy and are just trying to link the spaying as a necessity of her seizures in order to obtain some degree of coverage? |
if the epilepsy was a condition known about before cover, then the likely answer is no... all meds/procedures etc relative to pre-cover conditions are normally excluded under insurance policies as standard unless you opted to pay for one which specifically covers conditions prior to cover or specific to epilepsy if the epilepsy was discovered post-cover, then possibly but the vet has to make the case that the spay minimizes costings via occurrences etc and I'm not quite sure how that could be done given that epilepsy is a neurological condition and spay has to do with reproductive organs but stranger things have happened in the land of med vs insurance, I guess? |
