Bad Gas! My 13 week has bad gas. I've had him for a few weeks. He has been on Blue grain-free puppy food for about 11/2 weeks now. Could it be the food? Please let me know if you use a food that helps with this. I heard to put a little yogurt and or pumpkin in their kibble. Not sure about this. He had a stool specimen checked 2 weeks ago and no parasites and stools are normal. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! |
If you switched him to this new food - then yes, it's very likely it's the food and I'd get him off of it asap as gas can be very uncomfortable, and it's not good for a puppy. I'd switch back to what the breeder is feeding and/or at the very least find a food that has the same protein/carb source that the breeder was feeding. |
I agree with Ann's recommendations to switch back to what the breeder was feeding, or find a food with similar carb/protein. Some foods just don't agree with some pups/dogs. For instance, my boys do well on Fromm, but I've heard from a lot of other people that it gives their dog gas. Are you giving your pup anything else like veggies or fruit, or store treats that could be contributing to the gas? |
My dogs also had bad gas when I first got them. I found out that even though they loved peanut butter it made them very gassy. They can now have it in small amounts but I hardly ever give it to them. I would keep a food journal and see what you are feeding them each day including treats. It could be a number of things. |
