Loki got neutered

I don't know if this is in the right place but on Tuesday (April 19) and now it's Day 3 (April 21) of recovery. Loki has been walking normal again but tends to jump on the couch and bed, we don't let him do that. I know it takes almost 10-14 days of recovery It's my first time like this :animal36 The photo attached is of Loki on Day 1. Any helpful tips on recovery and anything else would be wonderful. :)

I see that no one has replied yet, so I will post a link to my thread about when I had my Bella spayed. She had stitches for two weeks, so I suspect that the recovery time is about the same for spaying and neutering. She couldn't reach the stitches, so we didn't use the E collar. When she had more extensive luxating patella surgery, we used an inflatable E collar for comfort instead of the hard plastic one. If Loki still needs his E collar, I recommend the inflatable one. It's like an inflatable air mattress around the neck, and it's much more comfortable than the hard plastic one. Thanks for the tips! :) the vet said that Loki has to wear the E Collar due to the fact that he had fluid coming out and cause he had a dissected testicle as well. I'll find the inflatable collar to make him much more comfortable, I read your thread and glad Bella is okay :)

So naturally I want him to be as comfortable as possible and I do the research and got the inflatable "zen" collar. Well it was definitely more comfortable ... but the wee beastie could reach his stitches! Sigh!!

So I put on the "cone of shame" and give him the "sorry bud ... I tried." And then I caught him ... he would push the cone down with his chin and then slide it along his tummy and the weee beastie could reach his stitches!! Sigh!!!

So he got the zen inflatable collar AND the cone of shame and voila .. couldn't reach his stitches. Hahaha.. awww looked funny though. He did figure out how to at least pick up a toy with that contraption.

Good news was he was pretty much healed up enough after 5 days. I did limit his jumping for that long and the only time he was free of the cones was when he was beside me with a bully stick or on a walk.

Hoping your little one heals quickly....

Monty looks cute! So glad your little one is good and he's strong if he healed up after 5 days :) Thanks hopefully Loki does, I don't like to see him with a cone on. My dad tied his cone with his harness because if we remove his cone he would go and reach his stitches. my mom is overprotective with him so he would need to use the cone until 14 days. it's pretty much big for his head but he's feeling quite better.

Just a bit of an update on Loki, he's been feeling sick lately. He's been drinking water. But been having diarrhea & vomiting. I told the vet by phone and she prescribed Loki with medicine for his vomiting diarrhea, so far it's been working but he still has small cases of diarrhea and he doesn't wanna eat. I'm willing to try pumpkin for his tummy. I tried that with Lila before and it worked. He's in good energy and walking around like always

Sorry to hear Loki has diarrhea and vomiting and is reluctant to eat. Did this start after he was neutered?

What does he normally eat? When Teddy has had diarrhea, I fed him steamed chicken and rice. For him, pumpkin makes diarrhea worse.

If it continues, definitely take him into the vet again.

Loki is adorable in his cone with the toy.

He was neutered on Tuesday and started vomiting and having the runs since yesterday, he eats Cesar and mighty wet dog food. Loki did vomit and have diarrhea around 4am today and since that time he hasn't had anything, the vet told me to give him chicken and rice and if Loki gets worse to call her and tell her. He does feel like his normal self and goes for small walks. And thanks :)

Glad he is feeling okay otherwise. If the problem persists or if your pups experience this frequently, you might want to consider switching foods.

I thought Cesars had a higher fat content than many foods, but looking at their nutritional analysis, hard to say. Both Cesars and Mighty list the minimum fat and protein content rather low, too low at single digits. But, that means the actual content can be any number above that.

9% protein would not be enough for a dog. The food I feed is considered low at 24% min protein and 15% min fat.

Just something to think about if there is a frequent problem.

Monty got bad diarrhea after being neutered too. I gave him Cesars wet food with some kibble. I stopped giving it to him and he had to go on meds to clean up the diarrhea. I think it was also from the antibiotics though perhaps? Don't know. He's all better now (thank the gods!!) Hope your wee one recovers quickly.

Loki's doing so much better :) I'm so happy about it, we gave him chicken breast and a bit of pedialyte and it seemed to work, he's back to his normal eating habits and feeling good once again :) I just think he over ate or ate something that was heavy for his little tummy

We have varieties of food that he likes such as healthy extensions (which was recommended by our vet) and eukanuba wet food that he ate when he was a puppy. I have a feeding schedule for them or else Loki and his sister Lila would eat everything all at once.
