Pet MD antifungal shampoo is available online. This helped my Yorkie stop smelling like a bag of Fritos. His skin has cleared up after just two weeks. No more greasy patches that reek. Shampoo can be done 2-3 times a week but I only did it twice a week. Also, 1 tablespoon yogurt is a good treat daily to keep up the good bacteria. I read sweet potatoes or any potatoes are carbohydrates that feed yeast so elimated those treats. He is on a grain- free diet too. Hope this helps. |
[QUOTE=anakarydas;4619540]My Yorkie Max has been having trouble with his skin since I adopted him..... It looks like el3phant's skin..... and stinks solo bad.... again... First vet: Temaril-P 30 pills Baytril 14 pills 2nd Vet: Rilexyn ( cepha) 28 pills Maltese Shampoo 3rd Vet: Ketoconazole 6 pills Simplicef 11 pills Hydroxyzine HCL 90 pills Prednisone 6 pills Max is on Wellness white fish and sweet potatoes food. H E L Pl...!!!![/QUOTE My 15 year old started having issues on the wellness white fish and sweet potatoes food. I switched to the natural balance duck and potatoe and it took a few weeks but he improved. He was itching and his hair was thinning and just not looking great. My younger boy at the time had no issues on it. It's really trial and error to see what food works. maybe that food is causing him to have the skin issues. |
Thank you YorkieMom and all for the great information!!! Not a yorkie --but my Bailey has had terrible yeast on his belly. I have put coconut oil and oregano oil and it has helped a lot. I was told the problem was when I bathed him I was letting him air dry, his coat had grown long (with Remy's illness I have been afraid to take the gain to the groomer) and the moisture was causing the infection. I also have cut out most of the grains and carbs from their diet... so I am guess that helped too!! |
