Tooth fell out during cleaning? So Chewie is almost 4 and lately he started to have a bad breath. Not horrible, but it smelled a little and we checked his teeth and they were a little yelowish, so we took him for a dental today. The doctor looked at him this morning and said it's going to be pretty routine, he didn't had a lot of tartar but on these little guys once it's starts it builds up pretty fast. She just called me now that the clearing is done, and everything is fine but one molar came out while they were cleaning it. She said this one tooth is pretty normal to fell as it has a small root. Is this true? Also he stopped chewing his bully sticks a while ago ( I would say maybe 6 months) and I thought he got bored of them, but now I am thinking maybe that tooth was bad it hurt when he chew? |
Did they give you the tooth to see ? If not I would ask to see it |

Our Kyra gets yearly dentals and has had teeth fall out at each one. Not sure what size your furbaby is but our vet says because Kyra is so tiny her mouth is just not large enough for a full set of teeth which has caused her issues with loose teeth. Last dental she lost 4, leaving plenty of room so we are hoping this will stop her losing more. |
I'm surprised/impressed he lost only one tooth - that's actually great! |
Ok, I saw the messages only when I got home on Friday night so I didn't ask for the tooth. He is 10lb, so not very small, and the tooth wasn't too bad from what the doctor said, just one with a small root. He was so not himself this time, he looked at us like he didn't knew who we were, he was afraid of us...Thank god he was back to himself on Saturday morning... Any advice on how to make him get back to chewing? He never liked his deer antler, and he stopped the bully sticks...I think he would like raw bones, but the chicken ones splinter and the others I think they are too big for him... |
