Peeing in her sleep Sophie has been having an issue with peeing while she sleeps during the day when she is taking a nap.. She has never done it during the night and it just started a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know what this could be. I will be taking her to the vet tomorrow for her shots so I will be sure to mention it to her. |
I don't know but will be interested in what the vet says. |
I will post what the vet thinks it is later today! |
Hmmmm...strange that it happens during the day, but not at night ever...? |
It never happens at night and the oddest thing is it does not smell like urine it is odorless! I am stumped! |
Female dogs that have been spayed sometimes develop this problem. My Gina did this. The vet said the muscles that hold the urine in become lax and this can happen. She was prescribed a once a day drop that took care of the problem. It came from a compound pharmacy. Hope you get an answer from your vet. |
Tinky does this, more so when she isn't feeling good. (She is also on Prednisone, which increases urine) Hope you get some answers |
Could it be a UTI? |
Peeing in her sleep My dog just started doing this also. But does it anytime she sleeps. Luckily she will go to her basket to sleep. I feel so bad cause she has always slept with me and she is 16. But otherwise very healthy. My Vet did blood test and urine. Results were high protein in urine indicating cushing's disease tumor on the pituitary gland. However, there is a large list of symptoms and she only has 2. The pee and she drinks a lot of water. This is a long shot but I started thinking about any changes when the symptoms first started. And yes, I started feeding her fresh pet. She loved it would jump in the air when she saw the bag. I've been feeding the chicken in the bag for about 2 months. 2 days ago I fed her from a new bag. She sniffed and walked away. So do to her age I will do anything to make her happy. So I boiled chicken breast. She jumped and ate like I had starved her. She has been eating this 2 days and already decreased her water intake to normal. The Vet did give me pills called proin 25mg half a pill 2 times a day. This has helped somewhat. She is otherwise a very frisky health looking dog. My question Could it be the Freshpet and why all of a sudden she refused to eat it. I will let you know how it goes and once I'm sure she tolerates I will add peas and carrots. Now I know exactly what my dog is eating. Please don't throw me out she's a Jack Russle. |
I had a little female that did this also, but she also occasionally did it at night as well. After ruling out a UTI, she was diagnosed with spay incontinence. She took the DES capsule rather than prion, and was on it for many years. DES dosing is only one capsule per week. Once she started the meds, no more accidents. Diana |
