Very itchy yorkie My yorkie rosie has been scratching her face off since she was about 9 or 10 months old she turned 1 december 14th... i have tried meds from the vet, food from the vet(which i don't want her on), and other brands of grain free foods and putting coconut oil in her food, shampoo from the vet and much more and nothing is helping... Anyone have any suggestions i would really appreciate I'm desperate my poor puppy is so itchy it hurts my heart :( |
Vet put her on the iams veterinary formula skin and coat plus... she had ALOT less itchiness on this food, but is iams a safe brand of food for yorkies to have longterm? if not does anyone know of an alternative to the iams veterinary formula skin and coat plus???? |
Firstly, what specific meds have you tried? |

Just home from the vet we put her back on the iams kangaroo food cause it's the only one that works and doesn't make her scratch her face off... And the apoquel medication is only in the states and only good for dogs with environmental allergies Rosie has some kind of food allergy... |
If you are sure it is a food allergy, then you can do testing to find out exactly which food it is. Uni was a very itchy girl. We tried a bunch of things but it wasn't until we moved into a house with a soft water softener. She itches much less, like 99% less now. |

You should read this entire thread for a better understanding of how to approach this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html Quote:
Why do you think food, what did you do to test that / confirm that? |
I have a Morkie and I noticed she was itching her paws. Turns out it was a food allergy so try to eliminate one thing at a time to see if its something you are feeding it. |
Itching in Morkies we have a few articles on the subject on our website: The Morkie Guide | The Full Guide To Morkie Dogs - Check them out! |
