Double canine teeth Blossom's baby canines didn't fall out and now she has her adult canine teeth growing behind her baby teeth. The baby canines are not lose at all. Do anyone have this happen before with their puppy? |
Max had to have 5 baby teeth removed when he was neutered at 6 months of age. It would be best to have the baby teeth removed as soon as possible to make sure the adult teeth set correctly and to prevent decay from trapped bacteria between the baby and adult teeth. |
I have an appointment to get Blossom spayed on the 27th so I'll have the vet to take a look at them then. I hope the adult teeth will fall in place after. Thanks for the advise. She is getting her rabies shot the same day also. Do you think all of that together will be too much for her? |

I would hold the rabies vaccination for at least a couple weeks after she is spayed. I'm with the school of thought that says that vaccinations and anesthesia in one day is too much. We split out vaccinations here too, don't give them all in one trip to the vet. |
My vet said it was ok to have her spayed and the rabìes done the same day bùt l have been having second thoughts about that so I will hold off like you suggested and just have the baby teeth removed. |
Sophie has the same but her adult teeth didn't come in early so when we got her fixed we had no idea . The vet doesn't want to remove them because he feels it's to much to put her under again just for her teeth she is 3 pounds 5 ozs so she had had adult and baby teeth for a while and slowly the baby ones are falling out . Fingers crossed she loses all the baby ones |
Ohhhhh yea! My puppy got about 7 baby teeth that needs to be pulled out:rolleyes: and they need to clean his teeth has the very back top ones on both sides got alot of build up on them from his baby teeth not falling out. I got quoted around $700 for everything I'm still working on coming up with that money to get this done. His breath stinks too. I started brushing his teeth like a month ago I wish I started sooner. |

My girl had a double row on top too. She had 5 and then 2 ,what I call eye teeth, that had to be pulled. I had her spayed at 7mo not knowing I should have the teeth pulled then too. SO she was 14 mo old before they were pulled but all has turned out ok. She is a little bigger tan yours , she is 7lbs but I always worry when antithesis involved! My sister just yesterday had a little dwarf cat out under to remove some mouth ulcers and she never came out . |
My vet will NOT give rabies with any other vaccine or procedure involving anaesthesia or cutting. I would talk to your vet about the rabies shot either 2-3 wks before or after surgery. Retained baby teeth are common in yorkies & is best to have removed at the time of spay/neuter as others have mentioned. |
