Need Help Choosing Food!! I am in a bit of a bine here I have put my 5 month old Morkie on Royal Canin Food couple months back which lead to bloating/Gas. Then I tried Canidae food which is supposed to be very good for them, but Still he gets Gas/Bloated. Can anyone recommend any good healthy food that works!! |
Maybe it is not the food causing the issue....maybe he is eating way too fast, gulping air as he bolts down his food....perhaps it will just require a different style bowl to eat from, rather than starting the wild crazy merry-go-round of jumping from food to food. |

He could easily be getting the bloating from the grains. Try a grain-free food like Natures Logic Venison or Chicken, Wellness Core, Acana... |

My vet recommends Wellness. Its truly grain free with no fillers of any sort. Some foods do upset their tummies. She also says not to give them dry food but I do mix a little in her food. I adopted an 8 m/o Morkie and she loves it as well as carrots and green beans. |
You can try sweet potato and rice.. My dog loves it. Never give chocolates and avocado to dog, it can be fatal to dogs. |
I've tried to feed Jackson foods that have a lot of grains or are somewhat carb heavy in the past and every time he ends up getting a bit gassy or bloated. I don't think it's the grains per say as I don't believe there's anything wrong with feeding a food with grains in it but I think it's more so the particular ingredients and the way they're formulated together. Like he does really well on Purina Beyond Simply foods which DO have grains in it. He's been eating Acana 85% of the time for the past 6 years with great results but I'm super annoyed that their ingredients and prices are changing again. Some brands you may look into depending on your price point... Earthborn, Nature's Variety, Wellness, Science Diet Ideal Balance, Purina Beyond, Nature's Logic, Farmina, Natural Balance come to mind. |
Just like with people what may work well for one dog may cause problems in another. Trying a better quality grain free may be a good idea. It may take a few weeks to see an improvement so give it a good try. Some little ones just have differences in how well their bodies assimilate food. |
dog food Yes wellness is the food I feed my yorkie. He gets the dry and a little of the petite casserole wet food. He loves the chicken carrots and green beans. |
Did you try Orijen? I was struggling with my Morkie as well, but was recommended to try this by a long time Morkie owner. My puppy loves it. |
