Does this sound like reverse sneezing? Okay so my little Precious has been making this noise, it started when she was younger just out of the blue. Within time it hasn't gotten any worse & the length of it depends on how excited she gets but either way it doesn't last long. This morning it happened when I came into my room because i slept in the den due to my little cousin staying over & Precious & I sleep together every night so I let her have the bed to herself. When I walked in & sat on the bed she got very excited to see me & started making the noise, after she was done she got off the bed and played around with her toys like nothing happened. This was the first time that it has happened in a while. It usually happens if company comes over because she LOVES people (yet shes afraid of other animals and refuses to play with my grandmothers yorkie), or when she drinks too fast & then immediately tries to play afterwards because shes VERY hyper, or if shes just excited to see me, my mom, or my sister. I tried the thing where you feel around on their throat to check for collapsing trachea & she doesnt make the sound then, she just looks at me like Im crazy. It also happens if she sneezes a lot of times in a row & she never has any problems barking https://youtu.be/jNGJkCQpPZM |
Hmmm...I wish the video had been a bit longer so I could hear more of the different little nuances of the noises. But, I do think this is likely RS. It sounds pretty darn similar to the RS here in my kiddos. |
She is adorable !!!! My Spice does that same thing once in awhile. have wondered what it was. |
Thank you |
She is a total cutie pie! :) I do think it is a reverse sneeze. You should show your vet next time you are there to be sure. :) |
Momo does this a lot, sounds just like it, like thers's something stuck in his throat or something's irritating it. It's either he ate something he wasn't supposed to, like my hair or dust...he licks the floor like a roomba. I'm always telling him 'stop licking' & am obsessed w/ cleaning floors bc of him LOL. Oh & he also threw up a huge hairball once! It looked like a mouse! He was making those exact noises a lot b4 he threw it up. I check inside his mouth whenever he's doing that, I did pull out my long hair a couple of x's. When he had long hair, his mustache hair was in his mouth, so I've had to pull that out too & he stopped making those noises. |
Sounds exactly like what Sophie does when she gets really excited! |
Bella sounds a little like that when she gets excited. |
The Wheezing Noise My Mia does it too and it terrifies me - I can't stand the thought of her having breathing troubles. It sounds like a lot of people of the same experience, but no definitive answers. Darn. I'm making a vet appointment and will post our outcome. I'm sure it's normal and I've read that Yorkies have respiratory issues - this must be it. Probably not serious but it sure is distressing. |
Maya does the same when she gets excited. I got used to it. |
Sounds close to what my Zippy does every day, except Zippy does it real fast, for a much longer time period and closer together like a goose at the park when we were kids(the city got rid of all the domesticated geese and ducks years ago). Seems to be associated with him getting a bit excited in our case. We verbally play it down with him, we don't want him feeling our concern. He even wags his tail while he honks! Wonk wonk wonk! :D |

It's definitive that my dog reverse sneezes and that it is completely harmless, common and normal. |
