Supplements??? Hello All, I recently started cooking chicken breast and potatoe for my little guy. Then I was concerned that he was not getting the needed vitamins and minerals found in regular dog food. I asked my Vet and she recommended Balanceit.com. I looked the info up and the supplement is kinda pricey. Has anyone tried it in powdered form added to the home cooked meal. Apart, from being pricey I'm concerned that my dog won't like it bc their webpage said to start off slowly as supplements can have an odor that is not masked with cooked food. Please advise thoughts and if perhaps there are other supplements individuals have tried. Appreciate it. |

All pups are different, but I have not really had any problems with it. You also might want to look at their free recipes so that you get proportions correctly. |
Hi Ladyjane and thanks. I did do the EZ balance analyzer so I have the proportions |
If you're going to homecook, you really don't have a choice - you must supplement unfortunately, or, they won't get their RDAs or even get close to it. There are plenty of supps out there, but if it were me I'd want one closely customized to my recipe... |

While the supplements are pricey to start, they do last for a while so I don't find them too costly overall. OP, I get that you are concerned perhaps about your pup not wanting to eat the supplements. I have not had a problem with that. I don't know if it is possible, but you might want to email and ask Balance It if they could provide a small sample to try it?? Explain your concerns to them...even if they can't do that, they may have another suggestion. Someone may tell me that is not possible..I don't know. I use it and would be happy to send you some, but of course it won't be sealed and it all depends on whether you want to use something a stranger sent to you. Feel free to message me if you want some though... |
You can visit petdiets and buy a diet for $25 that uses another supplement. I use both balance it and chefs canine complete. I like them both, and my dogs have done well on them. |
