Browning on sclera? Okay so once again I'm worried about my dogs eyes, I noticed on the white part of each eye in the corners it's turning brownish on each eye. She's 7 years old & is still as playful as can be & she's really little only 4 pounds but healthy because all her test results came back great & I took her to the vet about it & he said its pigment. But her eyes are watery at times with some discharge, he said that's normal too. & around her eyes on the skin it's sometimes red. Could that be allergies? She also sneezes a lot sometimes & reverse sneezes too, & scratches Thank you for any help |
Eye I wonder if it might be worth seeing a vet eye specialist to confirm that this is not worrysome? The discharge and watery eyes not not seem normal to me. |
The brown spots -- hard to say without seeing it. My boys both have a little brown outside the iris. Almost like the circle of the brown iris was smudged just slightly at the corners of the eyes. I don't recall them having this when they were younger, so I was planning on asking our vet about it. Watery eyes and discharge -- also difficult to gauge without actually seeing it in person. My boys have a little each day from getting hair in their eyes. Max has been a little worse this year, allergies, because we have been so wet. The redness of the skin around the eyes is never normal. Does it look more red after a bath? The only time I have seen redness on my boys was when I was using a shampoo that I decided was too harsh, and when Max had an inflamed eye. |

A light discharge from the eyes is not something to really be too concerned about unless it is getting worse and is discolored. She could have allergies...have you tried Benadryl to see if it helps? I have a foster right now who has red skin around her eyes....we tried Benadryl and also another antihistamine and she is now on Temeril P and doing fairly well. If she continues to have problems we may consider putting her on Apoquel....right now it is a wait and see what happens. Sometimes they just have seasonal allergies and don't need year round meds. |

And I also meant to add she doesn't seem to be having any vision problems because I checked & no sensitivity to light unless she just woke up |
Eyes I agree it could be nothing. The reason I suggested an eye specialist was the range of symptoms that the OP described. My dog had Blepharitis and was red around the eyes with eye watering and discharge. It took some time to clear this up. I understood the regular vet was not concerned and that is why the OP asked here. Hope your baby feels better soon. |
We all have different experiences .... |
Eyes I agree and that is the benefit we get from YT. The OP can then consider all the posts and take whatever advice or info she feels applies to her. But if the experiences are real, they should all be considered? I was just relating my experience like everyone else, not suggesting my experience was THE solution. |
