Watery Eyes 1 Attachment(s) I am not sure if this is a " Health & Nutrition " or " Grooming " issue .. Oscar always has the brown stains from watery eyes . I feed grain free but seems to make no difference . I have tried growing the hair out on the bridge of his nose and trimming it short ( how it is now ) but neither seems to help . He does not scratch at his eyes or anything they just water . Any one have this issue ? Any suggestions ? Thank you .. Attachment 407959 |

Have you tried giving only bottled water ever...? Also, does he ever lick/chew his paws or show other signs, in addition to the eyes, of allergies...? If you do suspect allergies, may be worth a try to try some OTC med like either Claritin or Zyrtec, which are the non-'scrip meds Vet Derms recommend the most. |

Oscar does lick his paws sometimes .. I will try Benedryl first and if that does not help I will try Claritin maybe .. |
Is it more pronounced at certain times of year? We are suffering major allergies here with the dampness and fall leaves. Max started getting tear stains last spring when he was suffering allergies. Once the stains start, they can be tough to get rid of. Use a flea comb to really separate the hairs at the corners of the eyes. I also like Spa facial shampoo/tear stain remover for pets. It is tear free and really gentle even on Max's sensitive eyes: Amazon |

Yes , it seems to be worse when it is damp and cool . I have been keeping the hair on the bridge of his nose and in the corners of his eyes trimmed short because it at least kept it from getting all icky . Now if I could just stop the watering . |

Tinky has the same problem, and had tests done to make sure all was ok with her eyes. Her vet said that some pups just tear up more. But, one think I did notice was diet. Tinky stopped eating her Royal Canin, so we swtiched to Hills - and I noticed she did still have teary-eyed, but it was no where near as bad as when she was on Royal Canin. Hope this helps. |
