Yorki encephalitis and alternative medicines Hi, I have a 6 y.o. Yorki (called Napo) and he was diagnosed with Yorki encephalitis ~8 months ago. I read very good things about Turmeric and sea weeds for encephalitis, and I wonder if it can be mixed with his current medications (the vets around here don't know much about alternative medicines). The current medications are: Phenobarbitone Cellcept Potassium Bromide (KBR) Prednisolone Keppra Omeprazole Please mention your background if answering :) Thanks! |
I would recommend you seek out the opinions of both regular vets and holistic vets to get an accurate answers on this. Welcome to YT, btw :). |
Our neuro. don't know much about holistic medicines.. |
I personally would defer to an experienced vet neurologist regarding treatment. I would probably add a quality omega 3 fatty acid supplement unless my vet said it was contraindicated. |
@107barney As I wrote, he his treated by conventional medicines (listed above) for ~8 monthes and the encephalitis was decreased from 360 cells/ml to 80 cells/ml. We are also giving him Omega 3 (+6) for dogs and virgin coconuts oil, and we really want to start with Turmeric and seaweed, but we won't untill we'll know that it's not contraindicated.. Thanks. |
