Strongyloides, i.e., Thread worms I have a 2 year old yorkie who has been treated for these mother bugger parasites since she was a baby. But they keep coming back. We are over the top with spending money but mainly the concern of her health. We keep treating them, then get a negative fecal, but a few months later, they're back! We're begining to thing her immune system can't combat these parasites. Plus treating her with panacur for so long probably took a toll on her digestive tract. Anyone come across this issue? |
What meds is your Vt giving? Thats usually is common in the south and not in the PNW. But I seen it up here and it is usually treated and done with.??? But I think the cyst lay dormate in the female and be transmitter through breeding. When they come out of hibernation?? You breeding ?? I know they can be hard to get rid of |
The yard & home are a major factor in the reinfestation of these buggers. While treating the dog, you must also clean bedding & all other areas the dog has access to including picking up any contaminated feces. When your pup poops clean it up as soon as it hits the ground & then spray the spot with bleach. Check the bum each time & use wipes on the area to ensure the area is free of any leftover bits of poop. |
