Anal Glands Hi all, My fur baby had her anal glands expressed a week and a half ago. After that she continued to lick herself and today she has started to scoot her bum on the carpet. The vet said her anal glands were very full and one side was firm and hard to express. Has anyone else had a problem with this and what did you do? I think I might take her back to the vet to get her checked again. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks - Emma's Mummy:confused: |

If she is getting clogged, then I'd be figuring out ways that you can avoid this happening again, so that this doesn't become a regular need. I would try switching foods bc there could easily be something in the current food that is actually the culprit in clogging her glands. What are you feeding? |
Just wanted to know how your baby was doing. |
My little guy does that too. After his glands have been expressed the next few days he is biting back there & scooting. Seems to get better as days go by. |
My 13yr old has had issues for years,,Just keep having them drained monthly and as long as your loved one is not straining during poop they will be fine..pumpkin in food can help if they are straining.. |
I need to get this checked for Boomer because he has done the exact same thing with scooting on the floor. Is there something I can do at home so I don't have to go to the vet each time? Boomer likes to poop each time he is walked outside sometimes twice. He doesn't have diarrhea just soft formed stool. Could his glands be hurting because of that. He gets a tablespoon of pumpkin with each meal. I hope your baby is doing better. |
