Luxating Patella at 1 year old Lexi recently started limping her back right leg a few weeks ago. Her Vet prescribed some pain meds for swelling. Brought her back today because she still limps on her walks, every 3-4 steps, a slight hop. Doesn't seem to cause her any pain as she continues to wag her tail and continue her walks. Vet says X-rays would not really tell her how damaged her knees is. Diagnosed her with level 2. Vet wouldn't say that Lexi positively needed surgery because she didn't seem to be in any pain. I'm conflicted because she limps several times during our short 10 minute walk. I feel bad watching her. Her spirits are the same.....excited to see us, loves too cuddle. Any advice would be appreciated. My first pet so Im a worrier 😔 Thank you. |
Limping means pain. LP puts stress on the ACL. Dogs with LP are more prone to ACL tears. If they have LP when very young like a year there is less wear on the ACL so it would be better to talk to an orthopedic surgeon and let them check it out. I also would stop doing the walks and any jumping until you can get the opinion of an orthopedic surgeon. |
