biting at back a lot close to bleeding I will be taking emma to the vet next week but I thought I would see if anyone else has had or heard of this happening. She has trouble reaching a lot but at her back above her tail (not real close to the tail) she biting quite a bit to the point its really red and it has not bled any but seems close. No fleas at all, nothing at all has changed diet wise etc. Coconut oil seemed to help some but not completely. Thanks for any advice! |
Before I knew Cody had allergy's I was bathing him weekly with a good quality oatmeal shampoo, why oatmeal? years ago I had a white Poodle that needed bathing quite often, I read using a oatmeal shampoo was safe for frequent baths, reason why I used it on Cody, 3 weeks later he was biting at his back just above his tail causing sores, off to the vet we go where I learned he had environmental allergy's, oatmeal being a "grain" was doing more harm then good. He was given meds for allergy's and Hylite shampoo and Hylite spray cleaner that can be used everyday, gotten at vet only. Sorry I cannot suggest what to use to stop your babies itching and biting until you get to the vet, but if you are bathing him I would stop until you see your vet. Hopefully others may be able to suggest something you can use if there is anything. I am not an over the counter self med person so I cannot offer up any advise. |
I've actually used oatmeal shampoo for awhile and she's been fine just the last week shes been doing this. I will look into switching I don't bath her often unless necessary as I've read on here. Didn't expect anyone to be a self med person on here but just wanted to check if anyone has came across this problem as well, thanks though |

Is she chewing or licking her paws? If so, I'd be thinking allergies for sure. |
