Cheese how much and what kind is a safe snack? |
Mine love all cheese....I give them cottage cheese, string cheese, any of the Kraft grated cheeses in packages that I use in my cooking.....I do not give them Velveeta simply because it is sticky and it gets caught in the roof of their mouths and I had a baby almost strangle on a piece of Velveeta.... |
Most all dogs like cheese. If you do feed it just dont feed much. Never let your dogs get overweight. its easy to do because they are smaller dogs. Weight is dependent on there frame not a set number also. I see so many heavy dogs with problems...Owners loving them to death |
Cottage cheese is healthy, when my pups had bad stomachs my vet recommended either boiled chic Brest mixed with rice or cottage cheese mixed with rice. If I have american or swiss cheese I give Cody 1/2 a slice folded into 4 small peices , he swallows does not chew, how can he even taste the cheese? lol, silly boy. |
IME Vets never recommend dairy for dogs. Unless they have upset stomachs or have been poisoned. Alot of dogs are lactose intolerant. So really it depends on the dog. |
Thank you all! I gave him a little bite of cheese and he loved it did tricks and all for it! |
Cheese I used to give my dog small pieces of cheese for treats and for concealing meds in! But my dog got pancreatitis and I fear it was due to the high fat content of cheese. So now, although he loves cheese, I never give it to him. Perhaps in very small amounts it is ok, but I would not feed often for treats. But it depends on the dog and I guess some dogs are more sensitive than others to high fat diets. As for treat foods, low fat chicken breast is great and there are low fat treats in the stores too. |
