He smells sweet and fur gets oily also kind of itchy I'm wondering if my little guy has a skin condition I've never heard of. He needs to be bathed at least once a week. He gets very sweet smelling almost like molasses and his fur gets very oily looking and spiky. He seems itchy, but not terribly. I've tried a couple of different types of shampoos including Burt's Bees but nothing seems to stop it. Any suggestions? |
I've been using yorkie splash and shine for a very long time now. I really love it and my baby loves smelling fresh all the time! I would not go back to anything else !!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yorkie Splash and Shine |
A yeast infection of the skin can smell sort of sweet. |
I would be asking the vet to check for yeast overgrowth or seborrhea. Is the skin flaky, are there any hot spots, any paws that smell like Fritos? Does he chew or lick his paws? |
He has no real symptoms other than the smell and the oily look to his fur. If I let him go he might develop them I suppose. His feet don't smell like anything but dirty toes. Ick. He has nothing obvious like hot spots and isn't even more itchy than a normal dog. He needs to go to the vet I guess. I'm broke at the moment as my new rescue (a GSD) has cost me about $2,000 to date and is still needing more vetting. I was hoping it was something common with Yorkies and there would be a simple solution. I should know better. I never rescue anyone cheap. LOL Thanks for the responses everyone. :) |
