Trachea problems? Hello We took out pup 20 wks old to be groomed yesterday. This morning he barked and then started to have kind of croupy sound and hasnt barked since. He is not as active as usual. He sometimes has had this sound but not nearly to this degree and it always went away. We will be taking him to to the vet but are wondering if anyone has had this with their dogs. Thanks |
Hard to say what it is. I doubt it is his trachea if it stopped so suddenly...may have been a reverse sneeze. But, honestly, I don't know. You should try to video it if he does it again so you can show the vet. If he is not as active, maybe he has an upper respiratory infection...I would definitely get him checked out. |
Maybe it just got irritated from being groomed. The put those ropes around their necks to keep them from falling. I tell my groomer not to use that since my doh had a srnsative trachea. |
It could be from the throat restraint they used at the groomers, perhaps it's too irritating for his throat area. If so, I'd do the grooming yourself. |
Thanks for the replys and help. Teddy started to cough violently yesterday and we took him to the vet. Said he has kennel cough . He and Buddy were given something to keep them from getting it last time we took them to the vets for their second shots. So they got it anyway. We got home and then Buddy started to cough so called the vet and he said to give him the same dose as Teddy is on. We have been very careful not to take them to doggy parks and around other dogs etc before they have had all their shots so dont know where they could have got it. Can only think that they were at the vets approx 11 days ago for their 2nd shots and Teddy at the groomers a while back then both of them there again this last wed. |
