Teddy is being castrated today! I'm so worried, as he's so tiny! We're dropping him off at 8.15 at the vets. I love him so much, and I'm so worried about today! I've had to shut him in a crate over night so he doesn't find bits to eat! We have parrots, and they throw food on the floor! He didn't understand why bless him. He seemed fine though when I put the crate right next to my bed, and he settled ok. Him and Poppy usually both sleep at the bottom of my bed! I so hope my little boy will be ok today, and I can't wait for it to all be over! They're inserting a microchip too. |
Aw, I'm sure everything will go well!!! Both procedures are completely routine and Yorkies are hardy little boys! |
Thank you, I think I'm overly worried as he's been reverse sneezing since his kennel cough vaccination a few weeks ago. I've taken him to the vets about it, and his temperature was fine, and his lungs sounded clear, and they weren't too worried, the vet said they'd still castrate him like that, it wouldn't be an issue. I'm an over worrying mum though as I think anything that disrupts his breathing is going to be bad under general anaesthetic! The vet assured me, but I'm still worried. |
The vet just rang, and said Teddy was fine during castration, but they have found 2 wobbly teeth that are yukky with pus! He said they don't usually like doing dental stuff while under anaesthetic, but he needs those 2 teeth out! That's gonna cost me more money! Already had to pay out for my other dogs emergency last night. My other half isn't speaking to me!!! |
They just rang again, I can collect him at 3.30! |
Yay! Glad it went well :)! |
Thank you! Just realised my post didn't make much sense ha ha! I should have put the vets don't like doing dental stuff when they're under anaesthetic for other surgical reasons. |
Happy to see everything went well with your boys neutering. It's very common here in the US to extract baby teeth when pups get neutered or spayed. Sorry your DH is upset over the add'l cost, he shouldn't be mad at you, these things happen, it's all about the health of our fur babies, loose teeth with puss is very dangerous, left untreated can lead to much greater illness, and much higher coasts. Make him his favorite meal maybe that will soften him up. |
Thank you, these were adult teeth! His breath is horrible, probably why! I've been brushing his teeth every day, and big chunks of plaque have come off. The vets think he's nearly 3. He was in an awful state when he was found. 😔 |

Thank you. Yeah he was ever so skinny when I got him in May. I could feel every rib. He was dirty with knots in his fur, and very overgrown claws, he was a mess bless him. |
