Homemade Gravy recipe please Hi I would like to make a homemade gravy for Tootsy. Any gravy recipe would be appreciated. I know you can buy low sodium stock cubes, but won't they have onion powder in them? Can you use gravy browning powder? Although I think that has quite a lot of salt in it. I hope someone can help. :aimeeyork |

In small amounts, a little bit of onion powder should not affect anything...so you may be just fine using a version w/ a bit of onion. |
Thanks for your replies. I will check the ingredients of the gravy browning and the low salt stock cubes. I did not know that they can be sensitive to flour so thanks for telling me about it. Tootsy has a very sensitive tummy and I have to be careful with what I feed her. I will see how much onion powder they use, as well. I will try her on the gravy made by adding water to the pan, after frying meat I will definitely chill it first to remove the fat or she will be ill. She is sensitive to fat and can only have a very small amount. I have not tried it before as I thought it may be too rich. I think I will do so now, as it may be fine once the fat is removed. I am inclined be too careful with trying new things in case she is ill. I want her to have some variety. I wonder if anyone on the boards makes a gravy for their little ones with sensitive tummies, which they have tolerated well? Thanks again for the replies.. :):aimeeyork |
I am now using a beef broth. You use beef marrow bones to make it. My girls LOVE it! This could be a good alternative to a gravy maybe. Two of mine have sensitive tummies and tolerate the broth just fine. |
